Field collecting is an essential component of this hobby we all enjoy; with more restrictions and the continued collecting of specimens this is becoming more and more challenging.
In this talk, David will share his recent field collecting experiences in the UK, this will include visits to classic localities (Hilton Mine – fluorite; Roughton Gill – pyromorphite), underground exploration and some more unusual locations. He will compare some of the specimens found today with those he found 30 years ago when he first visited, and those that made the mines famous for mineral collectors… and of course along the way there will be photos of the British countryside – it can’t all be about the minerals.
