The Japanese islands are part of the pacific ocean “rim of fire”, in which the pacific plate and the philippine sea plate subducted beneath the Euroasian plate in the eastern side of Japan islands, creating a chain of volcanoes and the corresponding geothermal and metamorphic environments. The combination of volcanic and other geological actions created different minerals along the islands. In this talk, the speaker will introduce several famous minerals in Japan. These are representative minerals of the island country that we should collect.
Our regular Members’ Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month from 7:00pm.
Members and non‐members are always welcome. Bring along minerals, gems, books and magazines to show to other members.
